The ultimate towing head
The Mudtight GOLD™ Towing Head was designed and developed in 2000. The aim was to solve the age-old problem of sealing the pipe without adding too much bulk to the outside diameter of the pipe. Tensile testing confirms that the towing head grips beyond the yield strength of the pipe.
Its patented sealing cartridge seals on the inside of the pipe and is reversible so that it will seal on both SDR 11 and SDR 17.6 pipe. By using O-rings of large cross section on IPS sizes, SDR 9 to SDR 32 pipe specifications can typically be sealed.
Tensile and pressure testing confirms that the Towing Head grips beyond the yield strength of the pipe and is pressure tight up to bursting.

NB - Our competitors also make sealed towing heads which are referred to as 'Mudtight'. They use completely different sealing methods. For the ultimate sealed towing head make sure you specify Brewis Mudtight GOLD™.
MUDTIGHT GOLD™ towing head
The Mudtight GOLD™ Towing Head is a device that allows a towing eye to be attached to a length of polyethylene pipe in a similar way to a standard towing head. However, a Mudtight GOLD™ Towing Head also seals the pipe to stop dirt getting in. This is particularly important for land drilling mud, water pipes, gas pipes and fibre optic ducts.
The Mudtight GOLD™ Towing Head is ideal for use with trenchless technology techniques such as directional drilling, Impact moling and pipe bursting where the pipe may be installed through ground water or drilling mud. Once the pipe has been pulled through the bore the Mudtight GOLD™ Towing Head is easily removed and the pipe left clean inside. This saves the time and expense of cleaning out the pipe and possibly also saves having to re-chlorinate water pipes.
The unique feature of this product is its patented three-part reversible cartridge. This allows one towing head to seal both SDR11 wall thickness pipe and also SDR17.6 wall thickness pipe. This is accomplished simply by reversing the sealing cartridge. On IPS (iron pipe size) Mudtight GOLD™ a bigger range of wall thicknesses can be sealed by using O-rings of larger cross section.
